"Château Boyd-Cantenac, 62% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 8% petit verdot. Note : 15,5. Spicy bouquet, strawberry jam, lovely fruit, dense in the mouth, rather tannic, tightly woven but rough, long in the mouth, full-bodied, ...finesse."

LE POINT - Guide de Jacques Dupont

2000
"Château Boyd-Cantenac, the richest colored of all the Margaux in the tasting with all the qualities of depth in its constitution and integrity in the expression of its terroir which we have come to associate with this cru and its winemaker. But this time, without the least doubtful note in the wood which is uncharacteristically toasty for this cru. A monumental wine, very cabernet sauvignon, which should associates powerfulness and pedigree, and which should last a very long time. A price-quality ratio certainly difficult to beat in the Médoc, its evolution will be closely watched."
BETTANE & DESSEAUVE - Tasting Notes

1999
"With its siliceous gravels on the Cantenac plateau, as well as by its plantation where cabernet-sauvignon (60%) is completed by cabernet franc, merlot (27%) and petit verdot (7%), Boyd-Cantenac is an authentic Margaux wine. Of an intense red with violet-purple reflections, it offers a generous bouquet where vanilla dominates, going from mocha to black fruit. In the mouth it reveals a lovely structure with quality silky tannins while at the same time remaining full and round, at last finishing on a point of cinnamon. Complex, long and very well balanced, this wine calls for six to seven years of bottle aging."

1997
"Lucien Guillemet is one of those viticulturists who believes wine should express the terroir's personality. It is the case of this wine which comes from the southern edge of the excellent plateau of Cantenac. Composed of 60% cabernet-sauvignon, it has a deep, dark color and a bouquet with warm notes of red fruit, toast and spices. Supple but concentrated with tight, ripe tannins and a lingering aroma of licorice. A true Margaux wine full of charm."

1995
"Located at the south of the famous Cantenac plateau, this property benefits from a lovely terroir, whose qualities cannot be doubted after tasting its 95. Of a beautiful purple, this vintage has a bouquet of warm notes of prune and spices. In the mouth the nicely concentrated tannins develop, they need to meld, (which will happen in the coming seven to eight years) but already respect the wine."
