The winter of 2000–2001 was particularly rainy with mild temperatures, giving rise to early bud-break and a rather difficult year overall in terms of parasites and disease.

After a warm spring and hot summer, the beginning of September was cool and dry, producing delicate and abundant aroma. Around mid-September, several hot and rainy days were worrisome, but hot, dry weather reappeared and the harvest, from September 27th to October 12th, brought in healthy, ripe grapes rich in colour.

The Merlots were black, fat, and powerful, while the Cabernets were very dark, exceptionally robust, with intense aromas, very noble tannins, and a supple finish.
